Boy George, former Culture Club front-man, was charged after wasting police time last October when he called a team of officers to his apartment. He said on the phone to the police that his New York residence had been burglarized.
As things developed it was shown that a party that involved drug use took place at the Boy George's apartment. No burglary was to ever have taken place, so the police had him initially charged for possessing cocaine and wasting their time with unreal allegations.
Boy George's real name is George O'Dowd. This Wednesday George pleaded guilty to falsely reporting a burglary in Manhattan Criminal Court.
The 44 year old singer and DJ was ordered to attend a drug rehabilitation program by judge Anthony Ferrarar.
The judge confronted Mr O'Dowd while reviewing the facts: "You are admitting to me the following ... you called the police, you summoned them to your apartment by dialing 911 and reported that your apartment had been burglarized when in fact you knew your apartment had not been burglarized."
Boy George will also have to pay for the court costs $160 and is expected to leave the U.S and head for U.K to attend a rehabilitation center from Wiltshire.
