The Chaos Reborn crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter has started according to plan, following the upcoming game's presence on Prefundia.

Chaos Reborn is an ambitious re-imagining of a classic Spectrum strategy game from 1985, Chaos: The Battle of Wizards. The game was designed by legendary XCOM creator Julian Gollop, and to this day remains of one the games with the most unrealized potential.

As such, the designer has been working on producing a modern and evolved incarnation of the classic turn-based strategy game that inspired a whole genre for more than a year, deciding to opt for the gaming community's support with a Kickstarter Campaign, in order to make the transition from prototype to final product.

Chaos Reborn's core gameplay revolves around battles between wizards, fought with a limited selection of spells within an arena, with the last wizard standing emerging victorious.

The game features fast resolving turn-based combat battles which last between 10 to 30 minutes each, and so far there are 80 unique spells, 24 of which are summonable creatures, including classic spells from the original Chaos game, including the Gooey Blob, Raise Dead and Magic Wood.

Players will be able to bluff their enemies by summoning creatures as illusions to distract, and make use of the Disbelieve spell on suspected enemy illusions, as well as to manipulate the balance of the Cosmos between Law and Chaos to their advantage.

The arenas will be completely procedurally generated, following his preference for the varied maps of the original XCOM game, offering full 3D maps with various types of terrain and various levels of elevation.

Chaos Reborn will also feature both live and asynchronous online multiplayer matches, as well as offline multiplayer battles in hotseat mode, along with online leagues and ranking system, tournaments with prizes and a host of options for co-op and competitive play, including a guild system which allows players to band together and compete with other guilds worldwide.

The game will also feature an extensive single-player campaign, which introduces a vast role-playing game experience where players start as a new wizard with only a handful of spells, and gradually build their power and knowledge by exploring the Realms of Chaos and defeating the Wizard Kings that rule them, with exploration and effective combat being the key to success.

The Realms of Chaos single-player mode will provide new realms to explore each day, courtesy of the procedural generation system that can create a near limitless variety of adventures, as well as player-generated realms for others to explore, with hundreds of pieces of equipment to acquire.

Chaos Reborn is currently set to be developed for PC, Mac and Linux, with a full version to be delivered by the spring of 2015.
