Channing Tatum and his wife of 3 years Jenna Dewan-Tatum are getting ready to become parents for the first time. A rep for the couple has confirmed the happy news for various media outlets, including Us Weekly.
The confirmation comes hot on the heels of Jenna’s appearance on the red carpet at the VH1 Divas show, where she seemed to be sporting a baby bump, as the photo attached to this article will also confirm.
Useless to say, as it usually happens in the blogosphere, this photo and others like it immediately got the rumor mill going on a possible bun in the oven for People’s hottest man alive and his gorgeous wife.
As it turns out, for once, the rumors were accurate: the couple is expecting their first child together.
“Jenna Dewan-Tatum and Channing Tatum are pleased to announce that they are expecting the birth of their first child next year,” a rep for the two says for the aforementioned celebrity publication.
An insider notes that the pregnancy was “a total surprise,” even though, in recent interviews, Channing did speak about his desire to start a family with Jenna as soon as possible.
“I'm ready; I think she's ready. The first number that pops into my head is three [children], but I just want one to be healthy and then we'll see where we go after that,” Tatum was saying in an interview last month.
As it happens, the star will also be taking a year off from acting to focus on other projects, such as directing and producing, and, of course, spend more time with his family.
Given the timing of the announcement that he was taking a break (which was made earlier this month), many believe Channing also made the decision so he could be at home with the wife and the kid.
