“Magic Mike” was a hit surprise even though it had to prove itself to so many skeptics and overcome serious obstacles to be taken seriously. Now that Channing Tatum has made it big with it, he’s already thinking of the sequel.

Channing, who contributed to the screenplay with his own story, and starred in the film, never made a secret of wanting a follow-up.

Now, the latest reports suggest that he might even direct the next installment, which would see the dancers hit the road to make their act popular with even more screaming ladies.

“In a [recent] interview, Tatum named Soderbergh’s longtime assistant director Gregory Jacobs (Wind Chill, Criminal) as one possibility, but then suggested that he and [writer Reid] Carolin might just end up helming the movie themselves,” Slash Film reports.

Steven Soderbergh, who directed the first film, is out of the picture.
