Good news for all the Chanel lovers out there: the sophisticated French brand has just launched its Summer 2008 makeup collection and it's really a convincing statement in favor of the old-fashioned but oh-so-true clich "less
is more". If you were wondering just how the exclusive Parisian brand defines the ultimate chic summer look for your eyes, here is the answer: it's all about shimmer and iridescence. Subtle nuances of golden brown, sands, sunset bronzes and an array of khakis blend together for the perfect safari look that's both subtle and powerfully seductive.
The eyeshadows are therefore soft, with subtle shimmers: the greens from the Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch range have a hint of gold and the taupe has a slight silver shimmer. The full line-up includes four nuances, each available separately. The "khaki" is in fact a subtle sage green, "safari" offers an earth toned stone brown, "tigre" is a soft bronze and "nomade" brings the must-have infusion of shimmery subtle pink. Note that both "tigre" and "nomade" are limited-edition shades.

The Lumires Facettes Iridescent Effects Eye Shadow Quad in Oasis also blends nuances of coral and pink that are subtly light, iridescent and work well for a golden finish. There is also an olive khaki green and a golden brown nuance with subtle gold shimmer and an orange undertone. It's a warm, glowing palette that will go well with the collection's other star item, the Soleil Tan de Chanel Moisturizing Bronzing Powder. Although slightly pricey (the Ombre Essentielle mono shades retail for $27.50 each and the Oasis Eyeshadow Quad is $55), they are definitely worth every cent. So give them a try at the Chanel counter and prepare to be impressed.
