Champions of Norrath: Return to Arms is a video game created by Snowblind Studios and published by Sony Online Entertainment. It was only developed for the PlayStation 2 gaming console from Sony and published in 2005. The game is classed as an action title with a dark medieval theme that sought to introduce some light role playing game elements and. It is played from a third person perspective.
The game is a direct prequel of Lands of Everquest and the action is set in the EverQuest universe. There is an evil power, Innoruuk, which is planning to take over the entire world by gaining access to all the Planes of Power so as to ascend to ultimate power. The quest that the player undertakes is to confront this giant evil. Most reviewers stated that the story of the game was rather weak, with forgettable characters and uninteresting levels.
The level up elements and the weapon selection in the game are well done and there are varied enemies that require varied tactics in order to be taken down. The combat in the game might be its strong suit but the spell based combat is also very well implemented.
The game has spawned a successful sequel and the developers are suggesting that every player completes the game so that he can import his character in Realms of Everquest.
GAMEPLAY HINTS
Negating enemy attacks
Because the Shaman is a weak class, an effective way to avoid being hit with a melee attack or being shot with an explosive arrow is to shoot "Tagar's Insects" at the enemy. The spell is not good for damage but the enemy cannot attack you because it constantly hurts them, depending on what level you are. Use this time to kill them. Also, the spell can go through walls and hit enemies on the other side.
Massive Bear strength
Use the "Item duplication" cheat and duplicate as many perfect bear figurines as possible. Barbarians with high strength are best for this trick. Equipping a bear not only increases your attack, but it allows you to carry more weight. Ultimately, each bear will weigh 1.5 pounds in your inventory. Empty out your inventory until you have your ideal weapon(s) and equipment with you. Put the bears into your inventory (usually over 250 bears should be in there) and watch your strength skyrocket. Then, set Critical and Ancestral Call on your markers and go up to any enemy of your choice. Activate both, and hit them for at least 70,000 damage, depending on your stat distribution.
