The Chakra Development Team announced yesterday, December 10th, the immediate availability for download and testing of the Chakra GNU/Linux 0.3 RC1 operating system, which features the recently released KDE Software Compilation 4.5.4 environment.

Chakra GNU/Linux 0.3 RC1 now features the new Linux kernel 2.6.33.7-3 with LZMA support, KDE SC 4.5.4 and, Xorg Server 1.7.7, ATI Catalyst 10.8 video driver, Nvidia 256 and Nvidia Legacy series video drivers. New locales, such as Catalan, English, Spanish and German, were added to this release.

"Drake and I worked hard the last past days to get tribe ready for this release. Please test Multi-User creation, with all the new features we added."

Chakra is a free GNU/Linux distribution born from Arch Linux, based on a half-rolling release model focused on KDE software. Chakra's repositories are full of binary packages for KDE, Qt and CLI applications, and there is also a bundle system for other applications.
