Russian based anti-virus maker Kaspersky applauded the fact that its latest security products Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 are now fully certified for Windows Vista. The news comes as both security solutions are still in the testing phase. Kaspersky has failed to reveal the official availability date for Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0, and only stated that the two products will be released shortly. The Kaspersky offerings with version 7.0, through their certification, come to prove that the products have undertaken extensive testing for compatibility with both the 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Windows Vista.

"Microsoft is pleased that Kaspersky Lab has earned the Certified for Windows Vista software logo for its Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 applications," said Dave Wascha, director of Windows Client Product Management at Microsoft Corp. "This highlights Kaspersky Lab's commitment to providing its customers with higher quality applications that deliver a more secure, reliable and compatible experience with Windows Vista."

Certified for Windows Vista is the highest level of certification that a third party product can obtain in relation to Microsoft's latest operating system. The lower tier is represented by the Works with Windows Vista logo, but - according to Microsoft - this is synonymous with an inferior user experience. Kaspersky informed that Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 have been tested not only for compatibility with Windows Vista, but also for compliance with the operating system's install and uninstall processes, compatibility with various programs of the platform and error-free functionality.

"We are pleased that Microsoft experts have confirmed the superior quality and stability of the new generation of Kaspersky Lab products. As the seventh versions of our home users products were developed with the characteristics and new features of Windows Vista in mind, successful completion of the Veritest testing was expected - but nonetheless great news," said Kaspersky Lab CEO Natalya Kaspersky.
