Microsoft, McAfee and Symantec have security solutions certified for Windows Vista. Coming on the heels of the VB100 test from Virus Bulleting, ICSA Labs has announced a certification program for security solutions running on Windows Vista. What is interesting is the fact that the products of Microsoft and McAfee that have failed the VB100 test, also for Windows Vista, have been deemed appropriate to deliver protection for the operating system from ICSA Labs.

NOD32 Antivirus v2.7 (64-bit); GRISOFT AVG Anti-Virus Professional (32-bit) and AVG Anti-Virus Professional (64-bit); McAfee VirusScan Plus (32-bit), McAfee VirusScan Enterprise v8.5i (32-bit) and McAfee VirusScan Enterprise v8.5i (64-bit); Windows Live OneCare (32-bit); Norton AntiVirus (64-bit) have received ICSA Labs Anti-Virus Certification for Detection.

Additionally McAfee VirusScan Plus (32-bit); Windows Live OneCare (32-bit) and Norton AntiVirus (64-bit) have been awarded ICSA Labs Anti-Virus Certification for Cleaning.

"With the continuing onslaught of malicious code, it continues to be of the utmost importance to provide end users the information needed to help ensure the security of their systems, even on the newest operating systems," said George Japak, vice president for ICSA Labs. "ICSA Labs works closely with product vendors and corporate users to develop the most thorough set of testing standards for anti-virus products. ICSA Labs' certification helps end users make informed security product buying decisions for their organizations, and provides continuing assurance on those solutions."

The ICSA Labs Anti-Virus Certification requires the tested product to achieve all the standards in both the desktop/server detection and cleaning module anti-virus modules.
