I hope I don't jinx it

We've been hearing all kinds of rumors about steep price drops of Xbox 360 but nothing has been confirmed until now. Walmart and Toys R Us have prepared some flyers that seem to indicate that a 50$ reduction is in order.

I'm not sure if this has any connection with the rumors about the PS3 price drop and at first glance, giving the huge difference in price, some might argue that it's not an issue at all. In fact, everything is just a marketing ploy to create the image of a cheaper product in the mind of the potential buyer and the timing couldn't be better. Everyone knows that this time of the year is the most productive, besides Christmas, in terms of new titles and with Bioshock and NHL 08 knocking on the front door it seems only obvious that they should shave 50 of the top.

The images that have leaked onto the net are somewhat normal in this case only that it's strange to see such a move from Microsoft, which is not exactly the biggest samaritan we know. "The Hollywood Reporter" has announced this move a few days ago but when they've asked Microsoft about their intentions, they we're just as cryptic as ever: "We have no announcements to make on pricing at this time. While price matters, content is king. And no other system is offering all the games people want to play this holiday at a better price than Xbox 360".

At this point it's unclear which version will be the lucky one although I have this feeling it won't be the Premium version, but I would be satisfied with a Core price cut as well. It remains to be seen if Nintendo and Sony will follow the footsteps of Microsoft or if they'll hold their ground until the holiday season.
