One of the first titles for the PlayStation 4 that Sony showed during its reveal event was Knack and fans were surprised to learn that the man creating the title was the main hardware designer working on the new console.

Mark Cerny says that creating the two in parallel allowed him to deliver better hardware and make an interesting video game.

He tells Gamasutra that he had a talk with Akira Sato, the leader of Sony Computer Entertainment, who encouraged him to keep working on Knack and the PS4 at the same time.

He told Cerny, “Don't give up the software, because your value is so much higher to the process, whatever it is - whether it's hardware design, the development environment, or the tool chain - as long as you're making a game.”

Knack is a launch title for the PlayStation 4 and both should be out before Christmas.
