Design studio and research company develop bowl resistant to both dirt and water

Quite a lot of water is used whenever people wash plates, bowls and the like, and most of it goes down the drain together with loads of dish soap. Hence, it can be argued that doing the dishes is not exactly environmentally friendly.

While some are busy developing dish soaps that don't contaminate natural ecosystems or trying to come up with ways to reduce water consumption, design studio Tomorrow Machine and research company Inventia have taken an entirely different approach to the issue at hand.

Long story short, they say that, at some point in the future, folks could replace their run-off-the-mill dishware with one that does not need being cleaned.

The greenheads have already developed one such eco-friendly bowl, pictured above. As detailed by TrendHunter, the bowl has a cellulose coating. Hence, dirt and water do not stick to it.

The bowl's manufacturers say that, apart from being dirt- and waterproof, the bowl is lightweight and tough, which means that it will stay with its owner for a fairly long period.

Here's hoping that Tomorrow Machine and Inventia will keep up the good work, and that we'll soon be able to use such green dishware.
