On Saturday, singer Celine Dion gave birth to twin boys via C-section, after previously admitting herself to a hospital to have around the clock care. Her husband Rene Angelil talks about the magical moment when they were born.

The couple has not yet announced what they’re going to name the twin boys, but a spokesperson for Celine did mention that both mother and children were healthy.

Speaking with Canada’s ETalk, Rene says both he and his wife were overjoyed when the babies were born, as also was their 9-year-old son, Rene Charles.

“When Saturday at 11:11 came, and they showed us the first baby that was crying, we were crying,” Angelil says in what is the first interview since the singer gave birth.

The other baby was born one minute later and, for the time being, both are kept in incubators because they’d been born prematurely.

“It was a very emotional moment, and even though we didn’t speak to each other, we were both thinking about the time it took. We are very lucky, very privileged and very fortunate to have these boys,” Rene says.

As fans must know, Celine and Rene underwent fertilization treatment to become pregnant again. They even did so once before the twins, but Celine miscarried.

Luckily, they did not give up hope and have now two healthy boys. Even if they’re twins, they’re not identical, Rene says.

“They do look alike but maybe they won’t look alike in a few months because they are not identical twins,” the proud poppa explains.

And Rene Charles was equally excited about his fraternal siblings, Rene goes on to explain. In fact, he was hoping for brothers because, this way, he would have someone to play with.

“He was very, very happy that it was boys. I remember a few months ago when his mom told him the day we would find out the [gender] of the baby, his reaction pointing to his mom’s belly was ‘I hope there’s not too many girls in there’,” Rene says in the same interview.
