Celine Dion Will Keep Trying for Children

Reports in August said that Celine Dion and husband Rene Angelil were expecting their second child, following many months of fertility treatment. The other day, it emerged that the pregnancy was only a misdiagnosis, which meant that the singer was never expecting, to begin with. However, that doesn’t mean that they will stop trying, husband Rene Angelil says in a recent interview, as cited by People magazine.

The couple already have a child, 8-year-old son, Rene-Charles, who has also been brought into the world with the help of IVF, but Celine has never made a secret out of wanting a larger family, despite her and her husband’s age. Their attempts seemed to come true in August, when sources close to the singer told the media she was pregnant again – and were foiled shortly after, when they were told that there was never a baby on the way.

They will continue trying to get pregnant though. “We are living the reality of the majority of couples who have to use [IVF]. The process can be long and arduous,” Rene says, as quoted by People. “Dr. Zev Rosenwaks believed that the procedure/pregnancy took, but that wasn’t the case. We found out some days later. We were shocked. But you know Celine. She doesn’t let go,” he continues by saying.

Seeing Celine keep the faith that, one day, the treatment will be successful again, has made Angelil appreciate the millions of women around the world who are in the same situation, and who go through the similar troubles to have a baby. However, if it’s happened once, it will probably happen again and, with optimism in their heart, they are convinced they can still add another member to their “extraordinary” family, Rene further explains.

“I admire all the women who go through such a tough process. Since April, she has undergone numerous examinations, multiple hormone injections and blood tests. Celine and I didn’t get discouraged... we put our faith in life and in the stars,” Rene Angelil adds. The couple is reportedly flying to New York this weekend to try again to get pregnant.
