Singing sensation Celine Dion and longtime husband Rene Angelil are expecting a second child, reports in the international media say. The mother herself just found out the wonderful news a couple of days ago, which is why an official statement has not yet been made to the media, a close friend of the family reveals, as noted by MSNBC.

Celine and Rene are already parents to eight-year-old Rene-Charles, but both have been very vocal in the past about wanting to expand their family. After rounding up her tour, the singer took some time off to focus specifically on this, report has is, visiting several fertility experts and just taking the time off to rest. Eventually, her efforts paid off, and she is about to become a mother for the second time. Both Celine and Rene are said to be beside themselves with joy at the news.

“Making good on her expressed desire to have more children, Celine Dion is pregnant. A family member tells People, ‘We learned this morning.’ While a rep for the 41-year-old singer confirmed the news to various outlets saying, ‘Celine and Rene are very happy,’ and ‘They are crazy in love over the news... they are overjoyed.’” MSNBC writes.

The same report also says that Celine, 41, and Rene, 67, only learned the good news on Monday, with it leaking to the media hours afterwards. Celine’s official website does mention the pregnancy, but includes no statement from her or her management, which means this is yet to be one hundred percent official. A post does say, though, that all reports in the media are just rumors until they’re confirmed there first.

Nevertheless, should the second pregnancy report be accurate, this will also change Celine’s plans for her comeback on the music stage. “Dion, whose concert tour ended in March, took time off this spring to concentrate on becoming a mother again. She also visited the clinic of Dr. Zev Rosenwaks, the Manhattan-based fertility expert who helped with the birth of Rene-Charles. Quoting a previous interview the newspaper had conducted with Angelil, the Journal reports that ‘everything hinges on the pregnancy’ in terms of Dion’s future professional plans – and that a pregnancy now could conceivably delay the singer’s scheduled return to Las Vegas in fall 2010.” MSNBC explains.
