After looking through more than 15,000 names for the twins she gave birth to over the weekend, singer Celine Dion and husband Rene Angelil have finally found names for their boys.

Celine’s rep has confirmed for People magazine that the diva and Rene have settled on naming the twins Eddy and Nelson, after two people who have influenced them earlier on.

“The name ‘Eddy’ comes from Eddy Marnay, who produced the singer’s first five records. ‘He was like a father to her,’ says Dion’s rep. ‘Eddy is a major influence in both Celine and Rene’s lives’,” People magazine writes after speaking with the singer’s rep.

Nelson is, of course, named after Nelson Mandela, whom Celine met almost two years ago, as she was about to kick off her tour in South Africa.

“Rene said that in just the few minutes they were able to spend with him, they were impressed by the human being he is,” the publicist says for the aforementioned publication.

“Celine and Rene want their children to be inspired by their names, because they were so inspired by these men,” the spokesperson further explains.

As we also informed you yesterday, in her first interview since delivering the twins via C-section, Celine said she and Rene had some problems picking out the name because they kept receiving too much feedback.

Their 9-year-old son Rene-Charles wanted an English name because she’s being schooled in the US, while Celine’s mother kept suggesting for her a French name.

However, knowing the two twin boys were healthy was all that mattered – and even made not having names for them look like a small thing by comparison, Celine also said.

Speaking of the babies, in another interview with the French-speaking Canoe, the diva also made a startling revelation: she was actually pregnant with triplets but one baby died after a mother.

“He chose to let go to give space to his brothers to grow,” Celine says.
