Last year, singer Celine Dion announced that she would be taking some time off from performing in Las Vegas as part of a very successful residency, to help husband Rene Angelil battle cancer. He was first diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999, and then too Celine had been by his side, putting her work commitments second.

In August 2015, Celine will return to Vegas, as announced a few days ago. Rene is better, but he’s not exactly completely recovered, the singer reveals in what promises to be a very emotional interview with ABC News.

This is her first televised appearance since the new cancer diagnosis, and a preview for it has been released - and is available below. The full interview airs today, Wednesday, March 25, 2015.

This particular segment shows a very emotional, teary-eyed Celine talking about how Rene isn’t able to feed himself because of the cancer, so he’s hooked up to a feeding tube that she uses 3 times a day to make sure he gets the nutrients he needs.

She also talks about the disappointment she must have caused in fans when she went on a hiatus, and how she “doesn’t know to do anything” else besides from singing, which is why she’s coming back.

“We are taking life one day at a time,” she says. “[But] we are choosing to live.”

Celine and Rene were married in 1994 but had known each other for 14 years before that. He’s her manager to this day, and they have 4 children together.
