This is one of those leaks that is not so easily covered up

Chromebooks sales haven’t been so successful, but they are still out there and new ones are being made, so information leaks are bound to happen from time to time.

Samsung, however, has become one of the companies that indirectly enabled more than just information to make it to the net.

Not long ago, a Chromebox was actually sold, albeit accidentally, through Tiger Direct and, now, the Chromebook is ready to sell too.

At least, that statement would have been true about half a day ago or so. Samsung was quick in having the product removed from Newegg.

Much to its chagrin, though, Google is in the habit of caching certain web pages, and the listing of the Samsung “Edison” Chromebook is no exception.

Available here, the cached page reveals pretty much every relevant piece of info, down to the price of $549.99. That's the equivalent of 438.70 Euro, if exchange rates are to be believed.

Samsung Edison is a 12.1-inch mobile computer with only as much storage as it takes to store the Chrome operating system.

For those who've forgotten, Chromebooks don't store anything locally. Instead, all they do is in the cloud, through online programs.

That said, the Intel 1.3 GHz Intel Celeron 867 dual-core central processing unit lies at the heart of the machine and is backed by 4 GB of RAM (random access memory).

Two USB 2.0 ports can be found on the sides and, of course, Samsung tossed in Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi and HSPA mobile broadband.

For those who don't want 3G support, a Wi-Fi-only Samsung Edison Chromebook will be available as well, for a slightly lower price. We aren't sure how much lower.

Finally, the 12.1-inch SuperBright display features a native resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels and a brightness of 300 nits. It is put to work by the Intel HD 3000 IGP (integrated graphics processor).
