It’s not hard to look stunning, be fit and healthy when you’re a celebrity, we tend to believe. As a star, you have permanent access to a personal trainer and a personal chef, so there’s really no excuse for looking out of shape. Now, neither is there for the regular woman, as several celebrity trainers have agreed to share their secret tips for a killer figure, as
Celebrity Diet Doctor reports.
Of course, for the best results, the first step in the process is to determine the areas that need the most focus. For instance, an upper-body-heavy woman will probably want to work her arms, while a pear-shaped one will focus more on her backside.
Luckily for the latter, David Kirsch (trainer of Heidi Klum and Naomi Campbell) has just the thing to get her there. For this exercise, we need a stability ball: lie on it in such a way as to have the hips on the ball, and the hands and feet on the floor.
“Move your feet out behind you so that they are in a V. Slowly pick your feet up of the floor, forming a wide V, squeeze them together. Lower them back down to the floor, and then back into the V shape. Repeat 15-20 reps,” the aforementioned e-zine writes.
Another important aspect that we should also keep in mind, and improve if possible, is endurance, especially if we’re fans of cardio. Joe Dowdell, who has worked with Claire Danes and Anne Hathaway, has a solution.
He recommends we cut short the time we spend between reps, more so in the first half of the training when we’re still not exhausted. By doing so, not only will we be pushing our body to achieve more, but we’ll also be cutting workout time by an estimated 15-20 percent.
For those looking to burn more calories when weight training, Harley Pasternak (has worked with Halle Berry, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys and Eva Mendes) suggests using only one side of the body at a time.
“This keeps your heart pumping throughout the entire workout while one side of the body is resting and when the heart is pumping hard you burn more calories,” CDD underlines.
One of the reasons many of us stop working out (or at least consider doing so) is that we’re constantly pressed for time and we simply don’t find the extra hour to burn a few calories the traditional way.
Michael George, who has worked with Meg Ryan, Julianne Moore, and Reese Witherspoon, say the solution to this predicament is not giving up on exercise altogether but finding a routine that works more muscles at once, thus saving us precious time.
“Try doing four different exercises that work several muscle groups at the same time instead of doing several sets of several different exercises for each group. Doing this actually works each muscle up to 50% more thoroughly. Good exercises to meet this goal include squats, lunges, sidekicks, and roundhouse kicks,” CDD says.
