But no, this is no brutal showdown - it's in fact a connoisseur's challenge - or so they're trying to make it look.

Enter contestant number one: P. Diddy. Yes, it's rather strange, wouldn't you say? But this guy actually has some serious confidence in his ability to charm the ladies, so much confidence in fact that he's launched some sort of smell-off challenge. He stated: "I send out a challenge…I challenge all of my female counterparts that have fragrances…that my fragrance is better than theirs. I'm a man and I know how women should smell!"

Although now that I think about it, I really fear some homeless guy stepping up claiming he knows how Paris Hilton smells like - no, my stomach certainly couldn't put up with that.

Enter contestant number two, none other than the diva known as Mimi, or for the rest of the mortals, Mariah Carey. She responded to Diddy's challenge and stepped forward to state that "I heard about this competition, and I wish Puff all the best with his new fragrance, but I think we're actually appealing to different types of women. It's not about a ménage à trois or a one night stand, it's for the woman who wants the man to fall in love with her immediately, stay in love, and treat her like royalty".

I think this sort of puts Diddy's words into perspective. And this time, I have to hand it to Mimi, I think she really read Diddy's mind when she mentioned one night stands and illicit affairs. But I'm curious to see what Diddy will reply to this - probably something about what part of a woman's body he'd like to sniff while introducing her to his glam lifestyle.
