If that be the case, and a pair of stunning, toned legs is something we can boast about, then there’s nothing better to put them on display than the pantless look, stylists say. Already a big hit with stars like Vanessa Hudgens and Mary Kate Olsen, this is one trend that will cause waves this spring and summer.
Of course, the pantless look does not actually mean no pants are involved, and going out and about in nothing but a long top or shirt would mean the biggest fashion faux pas there is, stylists say. What it does entail, though, as the photos show, is a pair of short shorts and a top of our choice. Depending on the latter, we can either opt for the casual, I just got out of bed and look at how gorgeous I am look, or the hip, flower power style, as the two above-mentioned celebrities showed on their recent outings.
Vanessa Hudgens, star of the “High School Musical,” for instance, seems the perfect poster girl for the chic casualness of the ‘90s, when checkered shirts were still considered the coolest thing there was. The star matched her mock-men’s shirt with gladiator-inspired killer heels and vintage looking accessories, for an effortless but ultimately exquisite look.
Understandably, the secret to pulling it off is choosing a shirt made of really soft fabric, since anything rougher or thicker would have drawn unwanted attention to the upper part of the body, making her look as if she had really forgotten her pants at home, it has been said. Another easy trick to rock this look is to go for shorts that can’t be so easily noted, as is the case with Vanessa, who really looks as if she’s not wearing any underneath.
Mary Kate Olsen, on the other hand, has always been a fashionista with deep flower girl roots, as fashion critics have often pointed out. Given this, it was only natural that she chose a more flowing, feminine and transparent top, which came in sharp contrast with the shoes and allowed for her short jeans to be seen from a distance. The entire outfit was rounded up just nicely with a backpack in the same shade as the sole of the shoes, and a pair of round black shades.
On a final note, in order to pull off a pantless outfit and come off looking as wonderful and trendy as these two stars, we should bear in mind that nice legs are a must. This, of course, means no cellulite and definitely not what is known in the industry as “thunder thighs,” stylists warn.
