Producer and recording artist Cee Lo Green plans an early exit from the NBC talent show called “The Voice.” The singer is leaving behind his spinning chair as a judge on the show, according to an interview he gave on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.

“I'm not coming back, guys,” Cee said quoted by THR, when prompted about the next season of “The Voice.” The reason for this departure appears to be a combination of factors that include plans to develop his own series.

“I’m going to continue my relationship with NBC. I have a television show development deal with them as well and hopefully some other talk show opportunities for later in the year,” Green revealed.

He does feel regret at his departure, but he says he “doesn't want to wear out [his] welcome there. I have so many other things that I want to do. I haven't released an album in four years. I'm almost done with my album.”

Green has also been dropping hints in the media in the last couple of months about a Gnarls Barkley reunion, which had fans jumping for joy at a possible new release from the successful duet act.

“The Voice” is billed to return for its sixth season on February 24 with Shakira, Usher, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine as judges.
