Singer and television personality Cee Lo Green is facing up to 4 years in jail if he’s found guilty in the ongoing trial in which he was just charged with one felony count of furnishing a controlled substance, ecstasy.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office confirms for ABC News that the singer, who is now a mentor / judge on NBC’s hit singing competition The Voice, is accused of spiking a woman’s drink in the summer of 2012, while they were out on a dinner date.

The woman, identified only as Anna M., is also claiming that the drug slipped in her drink was meant to get her to sleep with Cee Lo, which she did later that same night, in her hotel room.

However, the DA has refused to charge him with rape on account of the fact that there’s not enough evidence to back up the allegation.

“Green, whose real name is Thomas DeCarlo Callaway, ‘allegedly slipped ecstacy to a 33-year-old female while the two were dining at a downtown Los Angeles restaurant sometime between July 13 and July 14, 2012,’ the DA's office said in a statement,” ABC News reports.

The singer will be back in court in November and, for the time being, he’s refusing to comment on the allegations. However, if he’s found guilty, he could face up to 4 years behind bars.

As for how the scandal could impact his career, there are indications in the online media that it won’t in any way whatsoever. Green is on the panel of The Voice but his job isn’t in any kind of danger because of the allegations.

In fact, it is being said, network bosses only found out about his legal predicaments just recently, when the story hit the newspapers.

Green is yet to comment on the woman’s accusations.
