If you can't have an iPhone, settle for the next best thing

It proves to be considerably easier to take a phone concept and try to copy it down to its every detail than developing a completely new one. If resources don't allow an exact replica, no worries, anything in hand is good and can do just as well as the real thing as long as the final copy looks the same as the original product.

That seems to have been the thought that Chinese producers of the Cect 599 mobile phone gave to the product when developing it. On the outside, the handset looks highly similar to Apple's iPhone. Still, when put to the test for its real capabilities, the device can't even be compared to the original one.

The appearance is highly attractive, which does not come as a shock, especially when considering the impact that the iPhone has had over a large number of markets since it was announced. Cect 599 comes with a 3.2 inch touchscreen, almost as large as that coming from Apple's iPhone. This is capable of a resolution of supporting a resolution of up to 240 x 400.

Connectivity is available through Bluetooth and there is also a 1.3 megapixel camera included. Producers have not specified the internal memory that Cect 599 will come packed with, but a microSD card slot will also be available for making sure that the user has just about enough available space.

One advantage coming from these replicas of the iPhone is that people living in countries where the smartphone is not available will have the chance of enjoying a similar product until the real thing is released. Still, it is on rare occasions when performances even come close to those of the original product.

Cect 599 will be available in China from now on for the price of USD 150, without contract. That is a considerably lower cost than that of the iPhone, but fakes are usually way cheaper than the original thing, so it's not all that surprising.
