CeBIT 2009: Hands-On with Gigabyte Touch Note M1028

The Touch Note comes with an Atom processor and 1GB of DDR2

The CeBIT 2009 show in Hanover, Germany is considered the No. 1 marketplace for digital solutions, trends and innovations and Softpedia Team is present on the floor of the exposition to come with the latest news on the new products showcased there. One of the new devices that caught our attention is the Gigabyte Touch Note M1028.

The mobile PC comes with a swiveling touchscreen and is powered by an Intel Atom N270/280 (1.6GHz/1.66GHZ) processor. The Touch Note M102 comes in four flavors, M1028M and M1028G, which boast a WSVGA 1024 x 600 LED backlit display, and M1028X and M1028P, which include a WXGA 1366 x 768 LED backlit display.

The Touch Note also sports the Intel 945GSE Express Chipset+ ICH7M, while the M1028P comes with the HD-capable GN40 chipset with ICH9M. The machine sports 1GB of DDR2 memory, which can be expanded to up to 2GB of DDR2. A 2.5" 9.5mm SATA 5400rpm, 160 GB hard disk drive is included.

The Gigabyte Touch Note M1028 also sports 3 USB 2.0 ports, Mic-in, Earphone-out, D-Sub, RJ45, Express Card, 4-in-1 card reader (MMC/SD/MS/MS Pro), DC-in, two 1.5watt speakers, built-in Bluetooth with EDR, as well as a 1.3MP webcam. The machine also includes 10/100 Ethernet controller and built-in HSDPA and a Kensington Security Slot. The Touch Note runs under Windows XP Home Edition.

There are two battery options for the device, a Li-Ion 4 cell 4500mAh battery that measures 265 x 192 x 38.5 mm, making the Touch Note weigh 1.3kg, and a 6-cell 7650mAh battery that measures 265 x 214 x 41.4 mm and makes the machine weigh 1.48kg.

The Gigabyte Touch Note M1028 also comes with Gigabyte software for managing applications and Internet connection, as well as a 92-percent full-sized easy to use keyboard, and offers easy possibilities to upgrade the storage space and the memory.
