Entry-level Samsung handsets

Samsung Electronics came at the 2008 edition of CeBIT in Hanover, Germany (4 - 9 March) with a wide range of mobile phones, but most of them were already announced before the German Fair.

One of the few completely new devices from the South Korean company is Samsung M310 (actually, there is another Samsung product named M310, but it's a projector and we're not quite into projectors right now). The Samsung M310 phone is an entry-level one that comes in a stylish clamshell form factor with glossy and metallic finishes. Among its features we can mention FM Radio, Bluetooth, GPRS class 10, WAP 2.0, a VGA photo camera and that's about all. No details yet regarding the phone's availability, but I'm sure it will be successful in emerging markets (China and India maybe), since it can only come with an affordable price tag.

Another M-series from Samsung is Samsung M110, a phone first announced in the fall of 2007. M110's main quality is that it's water / dust / shock resistant, so users will be able to take it almost anywhere without worrying about it being damaged. Besides that, the phone only offers basic features like dual-band GSM connectivity (900 / 1800 MHz), 1.52 inch CSTN display with 65K colors and 128 x 128 pixels, VGA camera with flash, Bluetooth 1.2, WAP 2.0, FM Radio, SOS messaging and flash-light, Java MIDP 2.0, organizer, T9, voice memo and handsfree.

Samsung M110 measures 109 x 48 x 17.9 mm, weighs 95 grams and its battery should provide about 8 hours of talk-time and up to 400 hours of stand-by time. The handset is available for about $100, a price that makes it a good option for many users.
