Asustek has unveiled a compact version of its highest-end Lamborghini notebook, one of the most expensive computing system currently available for the public. The sportscar-style PC has undergone a significant face-lift, in order to make it more compact while preserving the design of the famous Italian sports car brand.

Initially thought as a decent replacement for a desktop computer, the Lamborghini PCs have been shifted to an ultra-compact class, designed around the 12.1-inch widescreen. Built with the latest technology and luxurious, state-of-the-art materials, the notebook includes a sapphire crystal web-camera panel, titanium alloy hinge backbone and the premium leather-bound palm rest for the ultimate comfort and elegance the user can expect from a top-tier portable computer.

The design is catchy, but it's not everything that makes the difference. Under the stylish hood, the manufacturer has gathered the PC equivalent of a high-end V3 engine. The notebook is built around Intel's Centrino platform with a 45-nanometer Core 2 Duo T9300 processor running at a default clock speed of 2.5GHz (6MB of L2 cache), Intel PM965 chipset and Intel's next generation of wireless N network chipset (4965ABGN 802.11N).

Video processing is handled by discrete graphics based on the GeForce 9300 GPU with 256MB of GDDR3 memory. Built for Windows Vista, the computer will come with a standard 320 GB hard disk drive spinning at 5400 rotations per minute and 4GB of DDR2-667 SDRAM. Additionally, the luxurious Lamborghini VX3 notebook will feature a dual-layer, Lightscribe-compatible optical drive, as well as built-in 3.5G cellular connectivity.

The company did not reveal additional information on pricing or availability, but it will hit the market in the traditional black and yellow colors and will be accompanied by its traditionally rich accessories, such as the Lamborghini Mouse, Mouse pad and Carry Bag. Softpedia is also present at this year's edition of CeBIT Expo, so stay tuned for further details about the upcoming masterpiece signed by Asustek.
