Assus has just unveiled its newest LCD offering during this year's CeBIT Expo. The 22-incher comes with DisplayLink's technology that allows users to run multiple monitor setups from a USB device.

The VW223B will allow you to connect up to six other monitors at once from the main monitor's panel, without any additional expensive hardware. All you have to do is plug the main monitor in, then link the other
five displays in a daisy-chain.

"Our vision is to enable non-expert mainstream users to seamlessly connect multiple displays with their computer of choice," said Vincent Chiou, director of ASUS Display BU. "With DisplayLink, we're empowering our customers to use a single notebook or PC, and expand their digital desktop viewing at will to perfectly fit their need. Many studies have proven the substantial productivity increase that businesses derive from increasing the number of displays a typical employee uses."

The new solution proves extremely appealing mostly to the users who demand larger workspaces to increase productivity. Video editing will be extremely facile when the editing applications are split on distinct monitors, for instance, not to mention extensive research, where users could have their browsers opened in secondary monitors, while the spreadsheet or the word processor will be opened in the central display.

The monitor will be able to deliver 32-bit true-color graphics and will run at a blaring resolution of 1680 x 1050, with the promise of light-fast response time of 5-millisecond for smooth video display. At the same time, the image gets minimum delays or ghosts on all the connected screens. The monitor has a contrast ratio of 3000:1, which is not top-notch, but it's more than a regular LCD display can carry.

The most important aspect of the new offer from Asustek is the fact that there is no performance degradation, not to mention that the other monitors can also run at full resolution.

"With the rapid adoption of our USB connectivity technology by monitor, notebook docking station and USB to DVI or VGA adapter manufacturers, we're delighted that ASUS has now added our technology to its portfolio," said Hamid Farzaneh, CEO of DisplayLink. "ASUS is one of the main LCD monitor players, and we're confident this partnership will enable us to make widespread multiple monitor computing a reality."

There are no details about pricing or availability as of the moment of writing, but Softpedia is at the CeBIT expo, so we will be back with additional details as they get revealed.
