Warner Bros. has just released the first photo of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle / Catwoman in the upcoming “The Dark Knight Rises,” Chris Nolan’s third and last Batman film. The term “impressive” springs to mind.

When the announcement came that Anne Hathaway had been cast in the film, opposite Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Nolan only said she’d be playing Selina Kyle.

With the first official photo now out, there can be little doubt that Hathaway will be playing Catwoman as well – and it seems there’s an interesting twist to the character now.

For one, as MTV also points out, she doesn’t have a proper mask, so this is either just one of the many costumes or it’s been modified to make it different to the one fans got to know and love in the comic books and the subsequent movie adaptations.

Secondly, she seems to have stolen Batman’s ride, which brings forth an entire series of burning questions.

“Catwoman’s riding the Batpod! Why the heck is she doing that? Well, we know the woman is an expert thief, so perhaps she’s gone digging through Bruce Wayne’s cave and come up with some wonderful new toys,” MTV writes.

“But has Catwoman really stolen this high end merchandise? Is it possible that she’s actually on the Caped Crusader’s side, helping him fight off the League of Shadows, or whoever it is destroying Gotham City? Only time will tell,” the publication adds.

Even with no answer to any of the above questions, there’s no denying that Anne looks mighty fierce in that black suit, riding the Batpod – which should be more than enough to silence skeptics who said her Miss goody-two-shoes image would go against that of Catwoman.

“The Dark Knight Rises” started shooting on location only a few days ago and, in an unprecedented move, scenes have already been papped like crazy, which means fans got to have a proper look at various characters and details – like Bane’s costume, for instance.

If you care for more spoilers, here are more photos from the shoot.
