Video game publisher Warner Bros. has announced that the upcoming Batman: Arkham City will include an Online Pass code which will allow players to get access to the Catwoman content in the game.

Those who get the new Batman adventure new will get the code in the case and will be able to enter it after starting the game for the first time while those who pick up an used copy of the video game will have to spent 800 Microsoft Points on the Xbox Live Marketplace or 10 dollars or the Euro equivalent on the PlayStation Network from Sony.

Those who have the pass will get access to four story sequences that feature Catwoman as a playable character and will be able to use the character in the challenge mode.

A representative from Warner Bros. has told Eurogamer that, “Playing as Catwoman is not required to complete the game.”

This means that those who do not have the pass will be able to see the Catwoman in the game but will not be able to see her in playable content.

A number of other characters, like Robin and Nightwing, have been confirmed as making appearances in Batman: Arkham City but it seems that the Online Pass will only affect Catwoman.

Almost all big video game publishers have, in recent months and years, begun introducing codes and special offers in their most high profile games in order to extract a revenue stream from the second hand market.

Electronic Arts seems to have had the most success with its Project Ten Dollars, saying that the revenue from new copies of its games have gone up after it was introduced.

Batman: Arkham City will be launched on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 on October 18 in the United States and three days later in Europe.
