The Chicago star, who has recently finished filming for The Legend of Zorro, is set to play a high-powered chef in Castle Rock's romantic comedy drama Mostly Martha, which Scott Hicks (Hearts of Atlantis, Shine) will direct from a screenplay by Carol Fuchs, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film is an adaptation of Sandra Nettlebeck's 2001 German feature Bella Martha, which will be co-financed and distributed worldwide by Warner Bros.
Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures. Production is expected to begin in January.
The movie revolves around Zeta-Jones' chef as her life changes when she becomes the guardian of her young niece.
Meanwhile, the 36-year-old British actress spends £24 per bottle of air from her native Wales.
After she found out that a businessman was bottling the atmosphere in the Welsh Valleys, Catherine Zeta-Jones, who has made no secret of her love for her home country, has become a regular customer.
The actress then dishes it out to friends visiting her and husband Michael Douglas, according to a Britain's The Sun newspaper, and insists that her children Dylan, 4, and one-year-old Carys call her native land home.
"She wants her kids to be privy to the upbringing that made her who she is - she loves Los Angeles but it's all so shallow", a source said.
Meanwhile, Catherine is filming for Coming Out and Smoke & Mirrors, and has singed on to star in Stompanato and Rachel's Holiday (2006).
