Actress Catherine Zeta Jones has checked into a rehabilitation facility for treatment for bipolar disorder. This is her second time in as many years, with one source saying that she plans to complete a 30-day program.

In 2011, the actress admitted herself to rehab, issuing a statement to say that the stress of husband Michael Douglas’ battle with cancer had taken a toll on her health.

This time, there is no statement from Jones, but TMZ writes that she will most definitely be in rehab for a full month.

“We've learned... the 43-year-old Academy Award winner checked in to the treatment center Monday and is expected to complete a 30-day program,” the celebrity e-zine wites.

“Sources connected to the actress tell us, Jones' stint in the treatment center is a proactive measure. As one source puts it, ‘It's maintenance’,” writes the same media outlet.

After completing the program in 2011, Catherine spoke to People magazine about her condition and her decision to go public with it, as we also reported at the time.

Being in the public eye meant that she had little choice in keeping this to herself, but that wasn’t the main reason why she wanted her fans to know what she’d been going through, she said.

“This is a disorder that affects millions of people and I am one of them,” Zeta Jones explained, adding that there was “no shame” in her situation or talking about it.

“If my revelation of having bipolar II has encouraged one person to seek help, then it is worth it. There is no need to suffer silently and there is no shame in seeking help,” she added.

Also then, the actress explained that Michael’s cancer diagnosis and very brave battle had indeed contributed to making her condition worsen.
