Animal welfare organization SPCA recently had the chance to rescue a cat whose McDonald's-based diet took a serious toll on his health.

Apparently, Frankie, as this feline is named, spent more than a year living in the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant in the Hamilton suburb of Frankton.

Being an exceptionally adorable feline, Frankie got to feast on whopping amounts of fast food. Thus, the people who came to eat at this restaurant could not help but feed it chicken nuggets and beef patties whenever the cat started begging for scraps.

After living on nothing but fast food of several months in a row, Frankie began to experience a decline in his health. The Inquisitr reports that, according to one McDonald's customer named Jessica Watson, who also happens to be a SPCA field officer, Frankie's face was all swollen and his eyelids failed to close properly. Furthermore, his fur was severely matted.

“He wasn’t overweight, but McDonald’s wouldn’t meet the nutritional requirements for a cat. They need very high levels of protein and I wouldn’t think takeaways would provide that,” Jessica Watson reportedly told the press.

After taking Frankie home with her, Jessica noticed that the feline was anything but willing to put his past dietary habits behind him and switch to a more nutritious and balanced diet.

Still, it appears that, after having spent just two weeks living with Jessica, Frankie has made significant progress. As the SPCA field officer explains, he no longer frowns upon regular cat food, and he is already starting to feel better.

Needless to say, Frankie's story touched many hearts, hence the fact that several families are already looking into the possibility of adopting him and giving him the love and care he deserves.
