One of the most active gaming communities, Gaia Online, will be soon releasing a new
casual MMO project entitled
zOMG! Even though the game's name suggests that it is targeted at tweens (at most), it seems that this
MMO actually promises to bring endless hours of fun to adults, too.
But we'll get to find out even more details as soon as the game gets closer to the gold status. Until then, though, it has to pass two beta tests and, for now, just the closed stage is about to begin. Out of the 120,000 people who have applied for the program, only 10,000 will be accepted, but things are expected to move pretty fast: the game has been under development for two years and it is expected to be fully released this summer.
"Our Gaian community is loyal, vocal and not afraid to ask for what they want," said David Georgeson, senior developer of zOMG! at Gaia Online. "It only makes sense for online worlds to place a huge emphasis on community involvement. In our case, they aren't just the people who will play the game; they're the ones who asked for it."
One of the most important aspects when it comes to the casual MMO zOMG! is the fact that it will take place in a flash-designed environment which is 100% free and requires no downloads. The players will interact in the game by engaging in quests, battling monsters, exploring the beautiful worlds and socializing with their friends or making new ones. Also, the title will extend the current offerings from Gaia Online - minigames, avatars, forums, and other creative and social outlets.
Hopefully, the closed beta testing will end up without any problem, and the open beta will kick off as soon as possible so that the 120,000 players have the chance to give it a try. You can be one of the testers, too, even if you are not a member of the Gaia Online community yet. Just head over to the
official website for more details.
