Konami has just announced that the patch for the PlayStation 3 version of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is now available for download, and fixes the save game issues that have been affecting the hack and slash game.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow seemed to deliver the first actually good 3D Castlevania experience in the long running franchise, but PlayStation 3 gamers were left disappointed as a save game glitch meant that the game would corrupt certain save games.

This meant that players were forced to start a whole new game from the beginning, and go once more through all of the chapters they already completed.

Now, Konami, the game's publisher, and Mercury Steam, the developer, have finally revealed the patch for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, which will, hopefully, fix all of the save game glitches.

"The patch will help resolve the "save game" issues related to user interaction with controller buttons (PlayStation button and SELECT), or disconnection of the controller while the auto-save icon is on-screen," revealed the company in a statement.

Besides this fix, the patch also allows the loading screen text to scroll, thus improving the user readability.

The Xbox 360 version of Lords of Shadow will also receive a patch in the near future, as the save game issues also plagued that edition, but they didn't result in a corrupt file, and players were able to resume their progress.

The details of the Xbox 360 patch will be revealed in the near future, so stay tuned for an official Konami announcement.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow was released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 at the beginning of the month, and, according to sales figures, is the first successful 3D title in the franchise.

The game fared so well that rumors about a sequel are already being talked about on the web, but time will tell if the Lords of Shadow series will continue.
