Konami has just announced that its latest Castlevania: Lords of Shadow title will be on the receiving end of two new downloadable content packs, which will be launched next year.

According to the Japanese company, the new content packs will feature all new areas, fresh monsters and new story lines that can be explored by players.

The first DLC will be called Reverie, and it allows players to return to the Castle as Gabriel and help Laura, who was the former servant of the vampire Carmilla, in order to destroy the evil creature that was kept in check by the recently slain Queen.

After Reverie, players will be treated with a second downloadable content pack, in the form of Resurrection, which continues the story of the game right after its ending.

The add-on will give some more insight into the "dramatic epilogue" seen by players after completing the game.

Resurrection for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is going to be larger in scope, according to Konami, and will continue the story of Gabriel by providing a final showdown with a "very notorious enemy."

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow was among the few successful 3D versions of the classic Castlevania series, and moved quite a few units a few months ago when it was launched for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 by Konami, after being developed by Spanish studio Mercury Steam.

The game was plagued by a few glitches on the PlayStation 3, however, specifically save game corruptions, but was quickly patched by the company in order to generate the best Castlevania experience.

Even if it the game didn't sell millions of units, rumors about a possible sequel are already flying around the web, as voice actors are confirming that  work on a new project with Mercury Steam has begun.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow will receive the Reverie DLC in February, while the Resurrection one will be arriving in April.

So far, Konami hasn't revealed the pricing of these add-ons.
