Veteran developer ZEN Studios has released CastleStorm – Free to Siege, a 2D physics destruction game with tower defense gameplay, console-quality graphics, and 8 playable characters.

ZEN Studios says Free to Siege includes all of the features in the console version of the game that received accolades from the entire gaming industry.

A 2D physics destruction game at its heart, CastleStorm – Free to Siege is actually a genre mashup game that offers action and strategy gameplay along with tower defense elements. The visuals are comparable to those of the console game, and pretty much everything else has been ported over to iOS, including the upgradeable weapons, spells and characters, full voiceovers, the original soundtrack by Waterflame, and the story line.

The controls have been tweaked to work with your touch-screen device. Don’t expect to get everything with your initial download, as the iOS version of CastleStorm – Free to Siege is freemium:

“CastleStorm – Free to Siege is free to play, however some in-game items will require payment and can be purchased as in-app purchases,” according to ZEN. As usual, customers can opt to turn off in-app purchases in their device’s settings.

Compatibility starts at iOS 5.0, meaning most devices are supported, including the iPhone 3GS. Download CastleStorm – Free to Siege for your iDevice today.
