Starz is getting ready for the premiere of a brand new season of the series that literally wrote television history, “Spartacus.” Called “Vengeance,” it will pick up from where “Blood and Sand” left off – and dare to be even bolder, more outrageous and adventurous than the previous season.

Fans of the first season must already be familiar with the events that tragically marred the evolution of this visually stunning new series.

Leading man Andy Whitfield was diagnosed with cancer towards the end of “Blood and Sand,” prompting Starz to put it on hold while it worked on a spinoff of sorts “Gods of the Arena.”

Sadly, Andy passed away in 2011, which forced the network to choose between pulling the plug on the project completely or find a new man to play Spartacus.

He was found in Liam McIntyre.

He and the entire “Spartacus” cast were present at a recent press call in LA, ahead of the January 27 premiere of the new season – and they made sure they promised an even wilder ride than so far, AceShowbiz reports.

“Whatever you think you know about 'Spartacus' or the characters of 'Spartacus', forget it,” Nick Tarabay, who plays Ashur, told the press.

“Forget about what you saw. You're not going to hear about this from anyone else. The people that you love, you're going to hate. The people that you hate, you're going to love. And just when you think you've got it figured out, it changes again,” he added.

Lucy Lawless was also there, further confirming that, no matter what was shown at the end of “Blood and Sand,” her character will make a comeback.

She didn't say anything about the plot, but she did explain how come she had the guts to take it off for the camera. It's a team effort, she explained.

“If you've got scars, they airbrush them out. I'm loving the modern world,” she said, saying the same happened if one of the actors “gained a few pounds.”

Still, she works out three times a week and keeps an eye on what she eats, because she wants to look her best for work.
