Casio is a name that reminds most of us of calculators, even if the company has moved on to the computer industry to produce tablets, among other things.

The device-maker has a rugged slate out, called the Casio V-T500 which sports a very robust structure and is able to withstand shocks, falls and accidental infiltrations of liquids and powders, being IP54 certified.

The Casio V-T500 has a 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and is equipped with a dual-digitizer, so you can use your fingers or a stylus when working with it.

The rugged device is powered by a Texas Instruments OMAP 4460 SoC clocked at 1.5GHz clocked with 1GB of RAM and backed up by 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD).

Other highlights of the tablet include NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, two 5MP cameras, USB 2.0 and miniHDMI. An interesting thing to highlight here is the swappable battery which can be replaced without turning the tablet off.

Too bad that the operating system is the outdated Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but apart from that the tablet might prove to be a good companion for mobile professionals. The Casio V-T500 sells in the UK for £799 / $968 / €703.
