Last week the world was taken by storm by Sony’s announcement of the selfie-centric camera shaped like a perfume bottle in China.

Leave it to Asia to wow you constantly and you will not be disappointed. Some of you might be familiar with camera maker Casio, which has recently focused its efforts into launching selfie-friendly products, like the EXILIM TR, into the wild.

Well, Casio’s newest product, the EXILIM EX-FR10, is quite a thing to behold. This little piece of technology can actually split into two parts and it does so in order to help you take photographs from any distance or angle.

The camera is quite bizarre to behold at first, but you’ll get used to handling it after a while. The device is constructed of two parts: the main body that is virtually the camera unit and the controller that boasts a 2.0-inch 230K-dot LCD capacitive screen.

The controller is used to trigger the camera at a distance by virtue of a Bluetooth connection. This will allow you to take photos from a distance when there’s no one around to help you and, of course, catch that group shot you have always wanted to snap without leaving anyone out.

The camera can also be used in the traditional ways as well, docked in portrait or landscape mode, and if you have a tripod at your disposal, it would be even better.

In terms of raw hardware, the product is actually quite a decent little digital snapper. It bundles 14MP f/2.3-inch CMOS sensor taking advantage of backside illumination (BSI). The lenses deliver an aperture of f/2.8, which is 35mm film equivalent.

The camera has Contrast Detection type of autofocus and users can snap images as big as 4320 x 3240. When video comes into the equation, the EX-FR10 can go as far as full HD at 30fps.

Casio is offering the snapper with a host of accessories, which will surely come in handy if you have the necessary money to spare. You can get things such as a neck strap, belt strap or a tripod.

The camera is small enough to be mounted on your hat, shirt or to be worn around the neck. It is also IPX6/IPX7 water proof and IP6X dust proof.

The device comes equipped with some software that will help you put a unique spin on photography. For example, Highlight Movie can create a short video out of the images you select.

The Casio EXILIM EX-FR10 will be made available in Green, Orange or White for about $480 / €363. Interested photographers can grab theirs starting September 12.
