Well-known Japanese watch manufacturer Casio has decided to enter the Android tablet market and apparently they want to be really different from the other players. Casio’s new tablets go against Panasonic’s mid-line of rugged similar devices, but they are not competing with the Matsushita’s “army-line.”

The new toys from Casio are called V-T500-GE and V-T500E and the manufacturer targets them towards business users in need for a sturdy tablet device.

Casio’s new tablets are powered by Texas Instruments’ powerful OMAP 4460 ARM processor.

The OMAP 4460 is manufactured in TI’s own semiconductor FAB using 45nm technology and is clocked at a high 1500 Mhz.

The design is in fact an ARM Cortex A9 dual-core chip, so readers should understand that the performance will likely be half of what Qualcomm’s dual-core “Krait” Snapdragon S4 is capable of.

There is no information on pricing yet, but we don’t expect them to be affordable, as most Made-in-Japan products are of very high quality, but also pricier.
