Radio and TV Icon Casey Kasem is dying at his LA mansion, his wife Jean had previously told a judge when Kasem’s children filed for a temporary conservatorship on the grounds that she was barring their access to their father. The judge has just denied their request, it has emerged.

Kasem’s situation has been making headlines for months, with interest in the case picking up after his children literally staged a protest outside his house, claiming that Jean had banished them from their father’s side because she was too interested in his money.

At the same time, Kasem’s children argued that they weren’t after his money, because they just wanted to be allowed the chance to say a proper goodbye to him, to be by his side in his final moments. The conservatorship would have allowed them to do that, but it would have also granted them access to the money.

TMZ reports that the “judge denied their request for an emergency conservatorship, saying he has confidence the issue of visitation with the children can be worked out by attorneys on both sides.”

He also ruled that “a temporary conservatorship is not necessary because Casey – who is suffering from advanced Parkinson's – is NOT ‘at risk’ and is getting proper treatment at home,” as per the same media outlet.

The star’s children had tried to argue that their father was “at risk” in Jean’s charge because she didn’t care enough about him to provide him with everything he needed. But here’s where it gets interesting: though the children have told the media that they weren’t after their father’s money, it could be that they’re not really looking out for his best interest either or wanting to spend more time with him.

As per the same report, before the judge denied them the emergency conservatorship, Jean had reached out to them through her attorney, offering them a deal to drop their bid. They would have gotten “regularly scheduled, though brief, visits with Casey and notification when he’s hospitalized.” They turned it down.
