Casey Hudson, the executive producer working at video game developer BioWare, announces that he is leaving the studio in order to focus on a new stage of his career, and the company says that none of the projects that it is currently working on are affected by his departure.

In an official announcement, the company explains that Hudson was instrumental in the creation of the Mass Effect series and that much of the emotional impact of the trilogy is linked to his attention to details and his ability to create complex and engaging narratives that capture the attention of the player.

Casey Hudson is quoted as saying that "Though there’s never an easy time to make a change like this, I believe this is the best time for it. The foundation of our new IP in Edmonton is complete, and the team is ready to move forward into pre-production on a title that I think will redefine interactive entertainment."

He also says that work on the new Mass Effect title is at the moment in the initial stages and playable builds are already available internally, shaping up to offer the best experience linked to the franchise up to this moment.

Hudson adds that he appreciates all the time he has spent at BioWare and believes that the company has some of the most talented developers in the world, who will be able to easily supplement his departure.

The developer also says, "Long before I worked in games, I was fascinated by their ability to transport me to places where amazing and memorable experiences awaited. When I made my very first asset that I knew would actually make it into a game (the laser bolt in MDK2!) I couldn’t believe how fortunate I was to contribute in some small way to the process of creating interactive entertainment."

Casey Hudson also thanks fans for their support as he worked on his projects and for their appreciation of the finished products.

The developer is not saying what he plans to do next, whether he will move to another game development studio or if he plans to spend more time with his family and friends.

At the moment, BioWare is focused on putting the finishing touches on Dragon Age: Origins, which will arrive on the PC, the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One and last-gen consoles on November 18.

At the Gamescom 2014 event next week, the development team will also reveal its new supernatural horror project for which three teasers have already been offered.
