A new Lifetime project will tackle the Casey Anthony case from a new perspective: that of Florida prosecutor Jeff Ashton. Rob Lowe will play Ashton's part and, in a new statement to TMZ, he promises audiences will “dig” the film.

Called “Prosecuting Casey Anthony,” the new film will show the entire trial through Ashton's eyes, while also explaining why he still considers her to be guilty of the murder of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee.

It's based on Ashton's book, “Imperfect Justice: Prosecuting Casey Anthony.”

TMZ paparazzi caught up with Rob Lowe in a parking lot and, as usual, provoked him into saying a few things about the potentially controversial film.

According to the actor (video below), it will be one that will be worth the watch.

“Ah, I... I never reveal my trade secrets,” Lowe told the paps when asked about whether he'd be doing character research by meeting with Ashton.

“The script is really strong, it's really compelling. I think people are gonna dig it... great script,” he added.

He also said that production on the new show would start very soon, adding that a possible release date might be January 2013.

For the time being, these are almost all the details available on the film. Oddly enough, Rob Lowe's IMDB page doesn't even list the project among his acting credits, so it's like it doesn't even exist.

Examiner has a bit more on it, though.

“Geraldo Rivera was asked to play himself in the movie to re-enact the pre-trial interview with Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez. However, he declined,” the e-zine says.

“Allison Cross, who wrote the script for the movie said, 'It’s not our intention to make a movie that tries Casey Anthony for the third time. She was tried in court and she was tried by public opinion',” Examiner further reports.
