Actress Carrie Fisher, best known for her role as Princess Leia in the “Star Wars” franchise, and Penny Marshall of “Laverne & Shirley,” are romantically involved and planning to come out to the entire world soon, by releasing a statement to the press.
These are the claims made by The National Enquirer in its latest issue and, though the tab has a shady reputation for running lots of gossip bits as facts, this time, the claims are too serious not to have some truth to them, voices online are saying.
According to insiders speaking to the publication, Carrie and Penny have been close friends for years, but Penny’s cancer battle has brought them even closer. In Carrie, Penny has found not only a shoulder to cry on and someone to motivate her to stay strong, but also a passionate lover.
Just recently, the 70-year-old actress, television producer, and director learned that she was completely cured of cancer after a 4-year battle, and she decided the timing couldn’t be any better for a big announcement about her relationship with Carrie.
“Penny says that with her medical problems finally behind her, she’s going to live life to the fullest, and she doesn’t give a rat’s [expletive] if people have a problem with it,” says a family friend.
“Penny and Carrie have been close friends for a long time. There have been rumors in the gay community that they were a lesbian couple, but they never confirmed or denied it,” adds the insider.
With cancer a memory now, Penny wants to set the record straight so that she’ll be able to “live the rest of her life without hiding anything. She’s going to come out of the closet,” the report mentions.
Obviously, Penny ran the idea by Carrie first and she was on board. She supports Penny in everything, and she too is sick of hiding.
The tabloid doesn’t offer any details on how the two stars want to come out but, when they do, rest assured you’ll find out about it here.
