With a transparent keyboard

According to the latest news on the Web, the LG GD900 Crystal, one of the most interesting mobile phones unveiled during the ongoing year, given the fact that it sports a transparent sliding keyboard, is expected to come to the UK market via The Carphone Warehouse.

According to the retailer, the phone should become available by mid-May, though the release date is not certain yet, and no details on the possible price tag it will feature have been unveiled so far, yet, given the unique features it includes, the transparent keyboard among them, one should not expect it to be too cheap.

The new LG GD900 Crystal was showcased for the first time at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona about two months ago, and it sports a 3.0-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display able to offer a 480 x 800 pixel resolution, as well as support for 16M colors, while also including LG's S-Class Touch UI, an 8-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and LED flash, and a secondary Videocall camera.

The phone's transparent keypad is also touch-sensitive, supporting multi-touch input method and handwriting recognition, and the device also includes accelerometer sensor, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, USB connectivity, SMS, EMS, MMS, Email and Instant Messaging capabilities, WAP 2.0/xHTML, HTML browser, multimedia capabilities, including FM Radio, music player with support for MP3/AAC/AAC+/WMA file formats, and video player with support for DivX/XviD/MPEG4 files.

GPRS Class 12 (4+1/3+2/2+3/1+4 slots), EDGE Class 10, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps and GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 connectivity have been included in the package as well, along with a microSD (TransFlash) memory card slot that can offer support for up to 16GB of additional storage space. Other features of the device also include TV-out, Organizer, Document viewer (DOC, XLS, PPT, PDF), Voice memo and a standard Li-Ion battery.
