Odd-shaped coffins have been a tradition for the Ga people in the Accra region of Ghana, one observed for decades.

The peculiar coffin shop was set up by Seth Kane Kwei, a local carpenter, after his grandmother passed away. The woman had a passion for aircrafts, but had never gotten the opportunity to fly on one.

Before her demise, the airport in Kwei's home town of Kotoka had just opened its doors to the public. The woman was always talking about her dream to fly one day. As a tribute, Kwei built her a coffin shaped like an airplane.

It became the family business. Locals started ordering coffins shaped like mammals, fish and books. Coca-Cola Spain even approached Kwei's family with a special order for a soda-shaped coffin.
