Carmen Electra has come a long way since her MTV days, being now able to boast a career that includes anything from Playboy pictorials, to successful workout videos and programs, movies and even a music album recorded with guidance from none other than Prince himself. The star is now looking to follow up on that first attempt at a pop career, by releasing “C-17” this October, as Top 40 Charts can confirm.

Although her first brush with singing, the 1993 “Carmen Electra” album, failed to get the kind of response the star was aiming for, it is clear that she never really lost hope of making a name for herself as a singer. Producer One Seven, with whom Electra worked for the upcoming material, at least, seems convinced that she has both the talent and the will to make it in showbiz as a successful pop star, which is why he agreed to do her sophomore album in the first place.

Electra and One Seven met after a Pussycat Dolls performance, where the producer saw her and was impressed with her. “We both lived in Hollywood and met at a party. The tracks he sent me were really good. I’ve always loved cutting edge up-tempo music. It was fun going to his studio and recording songs with no pressure, nobody telling you what to say.” Carmen says of how she came to work with this particular producer.

As for what fans should expect from the upcoming album, One Seven promises it will be something entirely different from what they’re listening to right now. “Most of the songs are gritty and intense up-tempo tracks.” One Seven explains. Electra agrees, as quoted by Top 40 Charts – “‘Who Do You Think You Are’ is a little darker. I see girls all the time that I used to audition with, and now they’re in very different situations. There are so many young girls who get hooked up with the darker side of Hollywood.”

The first single off “C-17” will be “Who Do You Think You Are,” which is already hailed by fans of the star as set to “detonate on pop radio.” The entire album, for that matter, seems to echo the work of other artists who have distanced themselves from mainstream but were still an indispensable part of it, the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Outkast, 2 Live Crew Peaches, as the aforementioned music publication puts it.

The “C-17” full tracklist includes: “While the Light Was On,” “Jimmy High,” “Who Do You Think You Are,” “Smile,” “Feel Me Up,” “Dirty Secret,” “The Way I Feel,” “Bobbin’,” “That Junk,” “Cali Foo,” “Goin’ Down,” and “I Won’t Stop.”
