Singer Carly Rae Jepsen might have to change the title of her hit song “Call Me Maybe” to “Call Me Cinderella Definitely” after landing the title role in the Broadway production of the Grimm's Brothers classic.

The NY Post blog reports that Carly Rae will be making a switch from the concert stage to the theater stage when she stars as Cinderella next year in her Broadway debut role. The producers of the show announced that the singer would be debuting on February 4, 2014, for a 12-week run alongside other confirmed names such as Fran Drescher in the role of the evil stepmother.

There is a lot of room in those glass slippers she's supposed to wear, because she's replacing Laura Osnes as Cinderella, which already received a Tony nomination for the role. Osnes will be leaving the cast this January after her run is completed.

This is a dream come true for the 28-year-old singer who grew up with high school performances of “Annie” and “Grease.” “My favourite part of the school year was our trip to New York, where we met Broadway performers and toured the theaters” the singer confessed of the time she spent at the Canadian College of Performing Arts after graduating from high school.

Jepsen also added that she chose Cinderella as her Broadway debut because she loved the story, “It's so hopeful and inspiring. I've always been one to believe in the impossible, so I relate to her character completely.”

The production is based on the 1957 Rodgers & Hammerstein television musical starring Julie Andrews. It's written by playwright Douglas Cater Beane and it's already received nine Tony nominations this year. Since it debuted in January, it has grossed around $44.3 million (€32.2 million).

Apart from making her debut on stage, Carly Rae Jepsen is also working on a new album that she hopes will be at least as successful as her 2012 hit “Call Me Maybe.”
