In the "mobile news for girls" category, we now present you a new agreement between mobivention and American Greetings, following which popular characters of the latter will be brought to mobile phones. The characters include Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake, Twisted Whiskers, Holly Hobbie and so on.
The German-based mobile entertainment company mobivention has now the rights to turn America Greetings content into Java games, MMS greeting cards, videos and static background pictures.
Unfortunately for gamers, mobivention and American Greetings did not unveil when exactly the new games will be available, saying that, for the moment, they will only work on background images and videos.
Created back in 1981, the Care Bears have become hugely popular along the years, appearing even in television series (like "The Care Bears Movie" and "The Care Bears Adventure in Wonderland"). Until now, the cute animals have brought American Greetings incomes of around 2.4 billion USD.
Strawberry Shortcakes, first appeared in 1977, is another loved character (especially by kids and girls in particular). More than 60 million Strawberry Shortcakes dolls, books and other such products have been sold worldwide.
Talking about the new deal with American Greetings, Dr. Hubert Weid, CEO of mobivention GmbH, said: "We are proud of the trust of American Greetings in us. American Greetings, with its popular brands is exactly the type of licensee that mobivention seeks to partner with in order to enrich its graphics portfolio and provide the most popular brands to our network operator clients."
With a history of more than 100 years, the Cleveland-based American Greetings Interactive is currently recognized as the biggest publicly-traded greeting card company in the world. Its toy design and licensing branch, named American Greetings Properties and formerly known as "Those Characters From Cleveland", is the one that owns all the above-mentioned characters that will soon come to mobile phones.
